Ecological FootPrint
I take up 4.5 earths, and 20.1 global acres. An ecological footprint is pretty much how many resources we need to supply the people on earth without an indefinite supply. Most people don't know this exist and just use certain resources as much as they please, but not everything is sustainable and we will eventually run out of certain things. For me I think the biggest thing is recycling, in my house we use water bottles and plastic and usually we just throw them out, since I'm taking Environmental of SWFL I've been trying to recycle as much as I can and I will try to keep it up with it.

It's really hard to keep up with recycling sometimes. However, there is another solution to fix that. You could refill the water bottles from the water fountains on campus or you could buy a water filter to filter all the water on campus and refill your water bottles with that water. That's what I always did when I was home.
ReplyDeleteI never used to recycle when I was at home. However, I also want to try to start recycling better while I am in college.
ReplyDeleteI am also taking environmental biology of SWFL, and I agree that it really does open your eyes to the negative effects of plastics in particular. It's interesting how many of the classes at FGCU are connected and deal with sustainability.
ReplyDeleteI think recycling helps us stay sustainable by a lot, sometimes it really is hard. And your very right classes are inner connected... its kinda strange.
ReplyDeleteI used to never recycle but that is one of my goals now. I'm going to refill my bottles a few times and then throw them in the recycle trash.
ReplyDeleteRecycling is one of those things I just never really did... but the idea is very nice. Knowing now how plastic is so hard to get rid off; its nice to know that I can help out a bit too and set my plastics aside or just reuse some old waterbottles!
ReplyDeleteMy family and I also recycled when I lived back home and I continue to do it as I live at FGCU. A little bit for something can go a long way to helping the earth become evironmentally better. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to recycle more on campus. I used to be pretty adamant about it at home, but it's kindof a hassle to take it downstairs all the time in the dorm. Maybe I'll just set up a seperate bag for recycle only.
ReplyDeleteI am glad we all are trying to recycle, make earth better (;
